Zhuhai, China – July 4, 2024 – In a refreshing departure from the bustling business routine, employees from a Guangzhou-based Scote Machinery company embarked on a two-day team-building retreat to the scenic Wai Lingding Island, located off the coast of Zhuhai.

The journey, which took place from July 4th to 5th, was both a physically demanding and culturally enriching experience that highlighted the spirit of collaboration, resilience, and exploration among the team.

The journey began promptly at 9 a.m. on July 4th as the entire staff departed Guangzhou for Zhuhai's 

Xiangzhou Port. From there, the team boarded a ferry, making their way across the glistening waters to the tranquil shores of Wai Lingding Island. Upon arrival, the group checked into the Lavande Hotel, a cozy and well-situated accommodation that served as the base for their island adventure.

The afternoon was designated for free exploration, and team members took full advantage of the diverse offerings of the island. While some dove into the turquoise waters for a refreshing swim, others cast their fishing lines into the sea or strolled across scenic paths capturing the vibrant hues of the island sunset. A few adventurous souls ventured into the bustling local seafood market, selecting fresh catches to prepare for the evening.

As dusk fell, the team reconvened for a lively and memorable seafood feast. Among the culinary highlights was the chicken-foot whelk, a local delicacy that many tasted for the first time. Laughter and stories flowed freely over the meal, bonding colleagues in ways that office meetings never could. The night concluded with a campfire barbecue on the beach, where the sound of waves blended with music.

The true test of the team’s unity and endurance came early the next morning. At 5:30 a.m., the group set out on a challenging hike, determined to complete a four-hour trek through the rugged island terrain. The path was not easy—steep climbs, dense vegetation, and uneven ground tested both physical stamina and group morale. Yet, step by step, the team encouraged one another, eventually reaching their destination together. The sense of achievement at the summit was palpable, with cheers and photos capturing the moment of triumph.

After a well-earned lunch and some brief rest, the group began their return journey. They boarded the ferry back to Zhuhai and then drove back to Guangzhou, tired but fulfilled. Though the journey had been physically demanding, the shared experience created lasting memories and reinforced the team’s cohesion and determination.
